Paint and Skate Aug 6/7 2011

Tentacle mag recently had a chance to catch up with artist Russ Morland and skateboarder Spencer Allen about their event PAINT & SKATE!!

First off what is Paint & Skate? - Paint+skate is a growing idea, we are trying to promote outsider arts and skateboarding to the general public in a positive light, I think little is known about skateboarding and the particular types of art we are showing.

Where did the idea for this kind of event come from? - I wanted to do an outdoor art show of some type, originally I wanted to paint a old bus or van or something then I got the idea to paint a ramp and have folks do a demo, we then decided to do a open skate jam for the public and have live painting from other artists as well as having art work hanging the whole weekend!

Do you prefer Jams over contests? - Yeah jams are good for sure, we wanted to do some prizes in there too so it ended up being a jam with prizes for the best ricks going down.

So did the event end in a ritual burning of the mini? - No burning of the ramp, were not about that at all.

Teams in attendance? - Kitsch and Instrumental were the main teams in attendance along with all the other shop guys

Is there somewhere the people can find out more? we are working on a website right now and we have a blogsite and if you look up skate art event on facebook you should find something. the blog is
